Nature is called Zìrán in Chinese, the “by-itself-so”. Mountains are seen as sources of prosperity and fertility: rivers find their origins there, medicinal plants and herbs grow there, people find their building materials for their homes and appliances. In times of chaos mountains are seen as a hideaway and in the early ancient times, mountains were places of awe and fear where mysterious powers ruled that were to be avoided or to be honored.
Each mountain has its own story in Chinese culture, a story that can only be experienced by climbing the mountain yourself and by merging in its holiness and everydayness.
In the west, we gather mountains of knowledge that we then explore the world around us with and try to understand in an evidence-based way. Every little chunk of knowledge knows its specialists who break up and analyze each mountain to the smallest sandstone grain.
In a world where knowledge has become power, life is dictated more and more by the laws of the harsh evidence-based reality.
How different is it in a world where knowledge leads to wisdom. In such a world, the view that every mountain has to offer us is boundlessly connected to the natural part of ourselves. It allows us to merge in the “by-itself-so” that lets us be part of the beauty of life day after day.
In a world where knowledge is power, wisdom is almighty. Where knowledge is rational, wisdom is imaginary power. And where knowledge can’t be understood, wisdom is the “by-itself-so” as it has always been in all its beautiful moving simplicity. Every moment again.
International Lectures organizes courses that not only have to do with further education but also give students the opportunity to develop on a personal level, allowing them to develop new wisdom. We only offer a mountain of knowledge, a passionate teacher, an inspiring lesson environment. It is up to every student to climb the mountains of knowledge they have picked up themselves so as to enjoy an unprecedented view and to be completely self-wise.
Take for example the 5-day course Uncover the natural beauty of the face by Nicholas Van Bergen Garner. He has developed a treatment method that allows him to open and harmonize patients at a physical, mental and spiritual level. His treatment causes the face and the Shen to radiate joy, youthfulness, inner peace and vitality. The face gets its natural beauty and that also applies to the patient.
In other words, with this treatment, you can let your patients become one again with their personal "by-itself-so" natural state. As a result, they can start enjoying the view that life has to offer them again.
Students that attended the Shen-acupuncture courses from Dr. Yair Maimon can – in a totally different way – become acquainted with this powerful effect of the Shen. Other students will, thanks to Nicholas Van Bergen Garner's course maybe for the first time, be able to experience the importance of the Shen, not only curative or preventive but also to be able to participate in daily life in a joyful way.
Nicholas Van Bergen Garner is known as an extremely amiable and competent teacher. His course material is very carefully composed and also extremely useful in your practice after the course.
In the past few years Sybill Huessen, along with her assistant Christoph Götte, has taught many students at her 12-day course The ABC of Chinese Pulse Diagnosis how they can literally get a grip on Chinese pulse diagnosis. Students are intensively assisted in learning the different palpitation techniques from the Shen-Hammer pulse system (three depths, 6 principal positions, 22 complementary positions).
Thanks to this valuable method, the student is able to find important details that he had not yet learned when interrogating the patient. This only benefits the accuracy of the differential diagnosis and the treatment plan based on it.
The next 12-day course has already reached the maximum number of participants. You can always send us an email () if you are interested in the Shen-Hammer Chinese pulse diagnosis. We will keep you informed when we organize the course again.
Yan Schroën is like no other able to combine the power of Eastern and Western thinking. In the diagnostic process, both directions are looking for combinations of symptom clusters to get a correct understanding of a patient's health condition.
The purpose of the 2-day Diagnostics in Practice courses is to teach students how to trust their diagnostic skills. This goes beyond the application of the strategy of the differential diagnosis. It is also about constantly asking yourself: "Which question is right now?" And "Why is this question right?" At each step, the consequences for the differential diagnosis and treatment plan will be considered. "What should I advise/prescribe to the patient if I decide at the moment that I have collected enough information to get a differential diagnosis?", "What is my understanding of the dynamic energetic system in which the patient is a part?", "What is the process like in the Western world?", "What words do we use in the TCM?", "What do the Chinese mean with their words?", "Can we use those words differently so they fit the Western explanation?"
The course Diagnostics in Practice therefore is not only about the application of diagnostic knowledge, but more so about the correct transfer of information between the patient and the therapist. This is reflected in many areas, for example in the interaction between the therapist and the patient, but also in the patient as he tells about the movement of his system, depending on the direction in which the therapist's questions lead him. When students start to recognize this interaction, they know how to use their diagnostic knowledge and skills in a wise way.
We sincerely hope to welcome you to one of our courses and we wish you a lot of knowledge and wisdom.
