The true "I" in me

The true "I" in me

The true "I" in me

Our daily information flow has increased enormously in recent years. Partly through our own actions through the social media, but also through the news that reaches us from almost all over the world at almost the same moment it happens, and also through the ever-accelerating and increasing digital possibilities which, for example, have to do with our work.
It is not self-evident that we stay afloat in this information flow, certainly not because all this information constantly activates our alarm system, as well as our desire for rewards that we can get from our social media friends.

Where is the true “I” then in me? What power keeps it upright? My destination (Ming)? My digital friends? My faith? My mindfulness? My salary? My health? My job? My beloved? My unconditional place between Heaven and Earth? Or do they do it all, each in their own way?

Mirror in the chaos
What every belief, every meditation, every spiritual ritual has in common, is that they use the “chaos” of the world around us as a mirror for our true “I”, and learn to see in that mirror what in that world is in “order” for us. In this way they teach us which destination, which digital friends, what faith, what mindfulness, what salary, what health, which work, which beloved, which unconditional place between Heaven and Earth is in “order” for us.

When we allow ourselves to be guided by what is in “order” in the chaos of the world around us, we use this mirror the other way round and we unconditionally rely on our true “I” who flawlessly tells us at any moment what kind of things we do are in “order” and who we really are in the “chaos” around us.

Each course is also a mirror, not only for your own “ability” and “knowledge”, but also for your true “I” who looks in the mirror of the “ability”, “knowledge” and “being” of the teacher. That is why at International Lectures we choose teachers who have an authentic “own” story or a great experience on the topic they teach. Because that is what helps you making “being able to” and “knowing” your own, and a part of what is in “order” for you. By mirroring it to the true “I” in me.

Course overview 2019-2020

We start the new school year with The Principles and Practical Application of Acupuncture Point Combinations (28-30 September 2018). This 3-day course is given by David Hartmann. Last May he received the Best Acupuncture Presentation of the 2018 Conference at the prestigious AACMAC (Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Annual Conference). His presentation was about the Practical Application of Acupuncture Point Combinations!
The way this course is set up is unique! All course participants, regardless of their level, will learn in a structured way how they can achieve the best acupuncture treatment. The emphasis here is not on studying the individual acupuncture points, but by learning how points should be grouped in order to achieve an optimal treatment result. Do not miss it! This course goes beyond what is taught in most European schools.

As an introduction to David Hartmann and his knowledge on acupuncture, students who have registered for this course can purchase his book Acupoint Dictionary for the discount price of € 30.00.
If his book The Principles and Practical Application of Acupuncture Point Combinations is published in 2019, students who have registered for his course can also obtain that book with a discount.
If you’re interested, please notify International Lectures by e-mail after you have received the confirmation of your registration for this course.

Yan Schroën will teach at our school three times.
Walk through the inner landscape (16 and 17 November 2018) assumes an essential characteristic of every traditional culture: in this, nature, the earth, our environment and our reality are seen as mirrors of what we contain inside. So there too the principle of mirroring! By getting to know the landscape in all its facets from the context of the larger whole, you also learn how the Chinese view the organization of an organism and what role meridians and acupuncture points play in this. By mirroring that towards therapeutic actions with which we can restore the energy flows in the landscape, we also understand our TCM actions better.

Dynamics of diagnostics (11 and 12 January 2019) is about the realization that a “diagnosis” is no more than a snapshot in the dynamic process of a patient who ultimately only went to a care provider because he wants to be helped with his return to the situation in which he can move in good health within the limits of his homeostatic balance. When a therapist does not understand this, it may be that his treatment actually causes the complaints to move to a deeper meridian. During this two-day course you will learn how to prevent this when choosing your acupuncture points and herbal formulas.

By popular demand, Yan will also teach the Tao of Love and Sexuality course (8 March 2019) again. In traditional Taoist tradition, sexuality is seen as a cosmic experience in which the energy of our body transforms and transcends at all levels: physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is therefore an important part of maintaining health and gaining longevity. It is important for the TCM practitioner to understand the Tao of Love, because he is therefore better able to treat problems such as infertility, impotence, frigidity, etc.

ATTENTION: the course Diagnostics in practice 3: exhaustion and burn-out of Yan has been moved from 11/12 May to 23/24 June 2018. You can still register for this 2-day course!

The course Effective pain relieving needling techniques - trigger points and beyond (5 and 6 April 2019) by Nicholas Van Bergen Garner discusses the pain that can arise in various body regions. Which muscles are there? What is their function? What their connecting organ? What connections are there with the central nervous system? How should I palpate the pain points? Which needle techniques can I use?
It is important to understand what pain is, because only then can you understand what you are doing with the treatment and what the changes are that you can expect after the treatment. So, going through each region, Nicholas will also speak about the emotions of pain, how pain is perceived and how you can diagnose and treat experienced pain on both a physical, mental and spiritual level. After this course you will probably not have any questions about it anymore!

Nicholas will once again give the course, highly valued by course participants, Uncover the natural beauty of the face (27-29 September and 13-15 December 2019), this time as a 6-day course. The face is central. It reflects the emotional stagnations that prevent your true “I” from showing itself in all its splendor. During the course you will learn how to read faces and how to remove unwanted wrinkles and emotional blockages through acupuncture. But you will learn even more about “natural beauty”, because that is where the transformation comes from in your patients. Therefore it goes beyond making only cosmetic facial corrections. And if you pay attention, you cannot escape the wonderful energetic way of teaching from Nicholas, who shows you for 6 days from which true “I” energy his treatments come.

Tuvia Scott also gives two courses that fit him perfectly. To begin with Five Element Acupunture (30 November - 2 December, 2018). This course teaches you how you can help someone come into balance and harmony with his own energy, his true “I” energy. Every Element-point has the potential to support and help setting the change that is necessary for a balanced and healthy life in motion. What you also learn above all is that with Five Elements Acupuncture you treat no symptoms or syndromes, but the person as a whole. If you get to know Tuvia, you will understand how extremely suitable he is as a mirror of balance and harmony.

Early next year, Tuvia will give his Abdominal Acupuncture 3-day course (15-17 March 2019), also known as “Wonder Therapy”. The navel region, with Ren 8 as the central point, is seen in this approach as the first system of regulation, the basis of the meridian system and the distribution of Qi and Blood throughout the body. It was devised by Professor ZhiYun Bo in 1991, who based his ideas on the theories of Taoism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Bagua and the 5 Elements. Working with Abdominal Acupuncture is very practical and is praised for its simplicity and extremely high effectiveness by most therapists working with it. The aim of the treatment is to adjust the body and mind, to harmonize and to rebalance. The needle use is superficial and there is no “de qi”, making the treatment painless and well tolerated by most patients. Abdominal acupuncture is becoming increasingly popular in China and in the West due to its efficiency in the treatment of chronic, long-term disorders.

The very experienced and extremely amiable Amos Ziv presents two new courses in the coming school year.
Magical point combinations for Insomnia that actually work (18 January 2019) gives you treatment options for a condition that TCM has thousands of years of experience with, namely insomnia. This condition can have serious physical and emotional consequences for patients, with Western health care unfortunately coming no further than life advice, advice on sleep hygiene or the prescription of sleep medication. Thanks to the insights of the TCM, there are indeed good acupuncture point combinations that allow you to treat your insomnia patients efficiently.

Amos also carries out extensive research in the field of cardiology and has extensive experience in applying acupuncture and Chinese herbs to cardiology patients in Israel, where integrated treatments are used more often than in the Netherlands, for example. His course TCM for Cardiology, High Blood Pressure and Hypercholestrolemia (19 and 20 January 2019) gives you insight into the possibilities for TCM practitioners in the field of cardiology. Not insignificant, because the chance that you will see a patient with cardiological symptoms in your clinic is considerable. In addition to understanding the development of the most common cardiological conditions (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol), this course provides effective treatment methods with herbs and acupuncture and how to use them safely.

Students who want to follow both courses from Amos, we offer a discount (see website).

Finally, Amos also presents his Meridian Wave channel theory application for pain management course (8-10 November 2019). First, a 3-day basic course. The Meridian Wave channel theory is an extremely effective and directly clinically applicable method with which immediate and lasting relief of pain and healing can be obtained. It is based on the classic TCM channel theory which is directly related to the classic TCM Yin Yang and Zang Fu theory. This will not only increase your acupuncture skills, but also your insight into Chinese medicine. The Meridian Wave Acupuncture system has been successfully used by thousands of patients in China, Israel and the US and has been taught to many practitioners in Israel and the US. Its effect has been clinically proven in a randomized controlled trial of acute back and neck pain in a large hospital in Israel.

Sybill Huessen and her colleague Sebastian Götte will give a new 12-day ABC van de Chinese Polsdiagnostiek starting on September 20th 2019. During this course, the pulse diagnosis is systematically explained and practiced on a high level. You will learn the six main positions and 22 complementary positions of the Shen Hammer pulse system that will help you discover important details for the differential diagnosis and the treatment plan. The Shen-Hammer pulse system is rooted in the well-known wrist classics such as Li Shi Zhen and Wang Shu He. Dr. John Shen and later Dr. Leon I. Hammer have further developed pulse diagnosis so that it fits better with the lives of patients in today's society, in which psycho-emotional aspects are particularly important.
The course consists of a lot of hands-on work, so you can immediately master the newly acquired skills. The limited number of participants (up to 16) enables optimal individual learning thanks to the intensive personal guidance of Sybill and Sebastian and makes this course an unforgettable learning experience.

Thank you for taking the time to read this mailing.
We hope to welcome you to one of our courses after the summer holidays!
